Today marks the birthday of cartoonist and illustrator Al Williamson (1931 - 2010), best known for his adventure, Western, and science-fiction/fantasy art. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is his collaboration with Frank Frazetta (1928 - 2010), the
Space Heroes Portfolio (Earthart Graphics, 1976). When it came to space opera fantasy from the fifties, few artists were the equal of Williamson and Frazetta. This portfolio of 10 plates showcases unpublished art by the two, and illustrates their personal conceptions of the space heroes that dominated TV and comics at that time. The first plate was signed and numbered out of 1500 by Al Williamson. Each of these 10 plates has an overall size of 11 x 16 inches, and they come in an illustrated folder.
