Happy birthday to actress Pam Grier, best known for her roles in the blaxploitation classics Coffy (1973), Foxy Brown (1974) and Sheba Baby (1975) as well as Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown (1997). Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this 8 x 10 inch color photo from Coffy that has been hand-signed in person by Grier. Crisp clear signature on a mint photograph. Farewell to H. R. Giger - Collector's Treasure of the Day

Farewell to H. R. Giger (1940-2014), the Oscar-winning Swiss surrealist painter, sculptor and set designer, best known for his design work on the Alien and Species film series. Giger died on Monday in Zurich from injuries he obtained after suffering a fall. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is an elegant book that joins both of H.R. Giger's classic collections, the Necronomicon and Necronomicon II in a single leatherbound luxury edition. The volume comes in a slipcase and has a signed and numbered lithograph set into the binding. This printing was limited to an edition of 666. Farewell Comics Legend Dick Ayers - Collector's Treasure of the Day

Avengers #1 Re-Creation Original Art Signed by Dick Ayers

Farewell to comic artist Dick Ayers (1924-2014), who passed away on Sunday at his home in NY less than a week after his 90th birthday. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this wonderful recreation by Ayers of the cover art for Avengers #1. Ayers was the original inker for the classic cover, so this is just about as close as a collector is likely to get to the fantasy of hanging this grail on their wall. Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man, and the Wasp came together as the "Earth's Mightiest Super-Heroes" in battle against the power of Loki for the very first time in this historic image and it is among the most recognizable images of Marvel's Silver Age. Ayers was one of the most prolific artists at Marvel during the explosion of the early 1960s, not only acting as one of the primary inkers on Jack Kirby's pencils, but also producing his own art on runs like the Human Torch series in Strange Tales. This art is signed by Ayers in the lower margin and has an image area of approximately 12 x 18 inches. Excellent condition. COA.
