Today marks the birthday of TV pioneer Ernie Kovacs (1919 - 1962), the first performer to grasp the medium's possibilities. His uninhibited genius was let loose to experiment on the hilarious Ernie Kovacs Show from the early 1950s until his untimely death in 1962. Today marks the birthday of Dick York (1928-1992), the veteran television actor best remembered for his role as the first Darrin Stephens (1964-69) on the ABC television fantasy sitcom, Bewitched. He also played teacher Bertram Cates in the film Inherit the Wind (1960). Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this striking Bewitched prop brass owl on leaf base, with original tag from "Great American Prop & Wardrobe Company". Label reads "Item: Decorative Brass Owl Centerpiece", "Production: Bewitched". 13.5 inches tall. Typical aging/patina and luster wear to brass but Fine condition.
