Happy birthday to actress and singer Jodi Benson, best known for providing both the speaking and the singing voice of Disney's Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989) and its sequels. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this full-color print of a background study by noted artist Chris Van Allsburg (The Polar Express) created during production of The Little Mermaid issued to promote its book Disney's The Little Mermaid: The Sketchbook. It is signed in gold ink in the bottom margin by the film's two directors, Ron Clements and John Musker, and Jodi Benson. 12.5 x 19 inches. Near Mint condition. Happy birthday to animator Richard Williams, best known as animation director on Disney/Amblin's Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988), his unfinished feature film The Thief and the Cobbler, and the animated sequences of What's New, Pussycat? (1965), The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968), and two of the Pink Panther films. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this Who Framed Roger Rabbit? production cel set-up. Original hand-painted 12-field production cel of Roger Rabbit over a photo background of Bob Hoskins as Eddie Valiant. A great classic Roger pose, matted and framed to 18.5 x 13.5 inches with Disney seal on the lower left corner and original certificate on the back. In Fine condition. Farewell to Dickie Jones - Collector's Treasure of the Day

Farewell to actor Dickie Jones, who died at his home in Northridge, California on Monday at the age of 87. Starting as a child cowboy performer, Jones landed roles in the Our Gang comedies, the 1937 film Stella Dallas, and - as he is best remembered - the star in Walt Disney's second full-length feature, Pinocchio. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this 8 x 10 inch classic image from  Pinocchio which has been hand signed by Jones (1927-2014) and by Eddie Carroll (1933-2010) who had provided the voice of Jiminy Cricket since Cliff Edwards died in 1971. The British actor was best known for playing tough guys with big hearts, as in this original hand-painted 12-field production cel from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988). Roger is shown over a photo background of Hoskins as Eddie Valiant. A classic shot, matted and framed to 18.5 x 13.5 inches with Disney seal on the lower left corner and original certificate on the back.

Remembering Carl Barks - Collector's Treasure of the Day

Today marks the birthday of Carl Barks (1901 - 2000), the Disney Studio illustrator and comic book creator who invented Duckburg and many of its inhabitants, such as Scrooge McDuck, the Beagle Boys, and Gyro Gearloose. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this set of two limited edition art prints of cartoons drawn by Carl Barks before he joined the Walt Disney Studio in 1935. Both are numbered "114/120" and signed in full by Carl Barks below the image. The set was published by Another Rainbow for the International Museum of Cartoon Art. Included are the Museum's numbered Certificate of Authenticity and envelope in which the set was distributed. On the back of each print is a label that states: "this drawing, submitted to Disney's in 1935 helped get me hired. Carl Barks." Blue and black ink on two 10.5 x 14inch heavyweight paper sheets. Today marks the birthday of Walt Disney (1901-1966), animation pioneer and founder of Disney Studios and Theme Parks. Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this limited edition book, Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse in Color signed by Carl Barks (1901 - 2000) and Floyd Gottfredson (1905 - 1986). Barks was an American Disney Studio illustrator and comic book creator who invented Duckburg and many of its inhabitants, such as Scrooge McDuck, the Beagle Boys, and Gyro Gearloose. Gottfredson was an American cartoonist best known for his defining work on the Mickey Mouse comic strip. Prescott, AZ: Another Rainbow Publishing, [1988]. Special edition limited to 3,000 copies, this being number 992, signed by Floyd Gottfredson and Carl Barks; with a picture disc containing an interview with Gottfredson and Barks conducted in the spring of 1983.
