Collector's Treasure of the Day - 1980s T&C Surf Graphics

T& C Surf Designs Da' Boys Proof Signed by Steve Nazar
The classic 1980s T&C Surf Designs T-shirt graphics were developed by cartoonist Steve Nazar. This vintage original pellon print of the Da' Boys design is a sample image created on the same automatic silk screen presses used to print the actual shirts. The material is somewhat similar to felt, and is significanlty thicker and stiffer than t-shirt material. They were created to test color and registration before the printing of the actual shirts would begin. They were used for reference for future production runs, salesmen's samples, and archiving of the graphics. VERY FEW of these were created, let alone survived. Most were lost or destroyed.

Collector's Treasure of the Day: Willy Pogany's Alice in Wonderland

"Shrinking Alice" Original Illustration, Alice in Wonderland (1929)
In 1929, Willy Pogány, the prolific Hungarian-born artist best known for his illustrations of classic myths and legends, lent his talents to a new edition of Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland. Pogány modernized Alice with a whimsical "Art Nouveau" flair. This charming illustration from page 23 demonstrates the effects of the bottle marked "Drink Me".
