Happy birthday to Mel Blanc (1908-1989), "the man of 1000 voices" best known as the voice of  Woody Woodpecker, Barney Rubble, and almost every character in the Warner Brothers cartoon cannon. I was privileged to meet Mr. Blanc several times in the 1980s, and he gave me the above photo on one of these occasions. The story features Deitch himself alongside his best-known creation, Waldo the Cat, and Alias the Cat.
