Happy birthday to cartoonist Matt Groening, best known as the creator of the comic strip
Life in Hell (1977–2012) and the television series
The Simpsons (1989–present) and
Futurama (1999–2003, 2008–2013). Our Collector's Treasure of the Day is this
signed limited edition lithograph commemorating the 20th anniversary and final concerts of his band The Rock Bottom Remainders. The rock and roll band consisted of popular authors including Groening whose concerts raised millions of dollars for charity. The band took its self-mocking name from the publishing term "remaindered book," a work of which the unsold remainder of the publisher's stock of copies is sold at a reduced price. The caricature of the band was created in 2003 by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist David Horsey and is signed by members Stephen King, Amy Tan, Dave Barry, Scott Turow, Mitch Albom, Greg Iles, Matt Groening, Roy Blount Jr., James McBride, Ridley Pearson, Sam Barry and Kathi Kamen Goldmark. The image is approximately 11 x 17 inches and printed on archival stock. Fine condition. Numbered in a edition of 270. Authenticity guaranteed for life by Collector's Shangri-La.
